The Difference Between an Upright Piano and a Grand Piano
by: Ido from www.piano-play-it.com

Hi Stephanie,

Both big and small pianos are basically made out of wood.

We have a great page that explains about the different types of the pianos. There are basically two types of pianos: upright pianos (vertical pianos) and grand pianos (horizontal and bigger pianos). Click here to learn about the various types of pianos.

If you are interested in more information, we even have a page that explains how the piano works.
In this page you will learn about the different parts of the piano, and you will see that they are made of wood.
You will also understand why upright pianos and grand pianos so differ from each other.

I hope this helps,
If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask them.
