The Importance of Counting through the whole piece...

Hi,

I would definately say yes to this question.

Before we play a piece we're supposed to look at the shoartest measure unit and to count according to that unit through the whole piece.

Why? because it will help us to keep the unity of the tempo through the whole piece.

Otherwise, If we count eighth notes only on a certain spot we might rush when we play quarter notes that won't be exactly half as fast but somewhere vague in the middle.

So, you would benefit from counting Eighth notes through the whole piece. I know it's a pain in the ass at the beginning but after awhile it becomes a second nature...
