Joy to the World Piano Sheet Music, Free and for Beginners
Isaac Watts wrote the words in 1719; the tune as we know it was arranged by Lowell Mason in 1848. It opens with a full scale coming down from the top, which is the clearest thing a beginner can play and the most satisfying.

The right hand opens with 5 – – – 4 – – 3 | 2 – – – – – – – reading one number for each beat, with a dash where the note is held on.
That is how the whole carol is written in the books: one number for each finger, one box for each beat, a dash where a note is held. Press play above and you will see the same numbers appear on the keys as they sound.
How this arrangement is laid out
Level 1 is 20 bars for both hands, from G3 up to G4. The right hand begins with the thumb on C4, and it never has to move from there. The left hand sits with the little finger on F3, and stays there. Level 2 fills the same carol out: 20 bars, reaching from C3 to C5, with 8 changes of hand position, so the hands travel much more.
The right hand opens in C position and the melody never asks it to go anywhere else. The left hand sits in F position and stays there.
Level 1 keeps both hands near the middle of the keyboard and gives the left hand the simplest part it can have. The right hand begins in F position and moves at bars 3, 5, 10 and 11 and 4 more. Those bars are the ones to practise on their own, slowly, until the move happens without looking down. The left hand sits in C position and stays there.
