Christ was Born on Christmas Day Piano Sheet Music, Free and for Beginners
An old Christmas hymn that came into English through John Mason Neale in the nineteenth century, from a much older Latin and German carol. It is short, plain and repetitive, which is exactly what makes it a good first carol.

The right hand opens with 2 – – | 2 – 3 | 2 – – | 2 – – reading one number for each beat, with a dash where the note is held on.

How this arrangement is laid out
Level 1 is 18 bars for both hands, from G3 up to E4. The right hand begins with the thumb on C4, and it never has to move from there. The left hand sits with the little finger on F3, and stays there. Level 2 fills the same carol out: 18 bars, reaching from G3 to E5, with 1 change of hand position.
The right hand stays in C position from the first bar to the last, and that is the whole trick of this arrangement. The left hand sits in F position and stays there.
Level 1 keeps both hands near the middle of the keyboard and gives the left hand the simplest part it can have. The right hand begins in A position and moves at bar 14, into G position. Those bars are the ones to practise on their own, slowly, until the move happens without looking down. The left hand sits in G position and stays there.
