Dolly Parton 9 to 5 Piano Tutorial

Home » Piano Tutorials » Dolly Parton 9 to 5 Piano Tutorial

This next piano tutorial will show you how to play the song 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton. This song contains just a few chords but it has such a nice groove which makes it still challenging to play.

We will try to first learn how to play the chords in blocks and later on we will add only the bass with the left hand. As a final step we will add some off beats with the left hand and include nice hooks in the bass line.

At the original tempo this song is pretty fast so make sure that you keep your wrist loose while playing all the eighth notes with the left and right hand and that you keep the tempo steady.

Piano by Numbers, a beginner method written in finger numbers

Play a real piece without reading a note

Everything on this site is free and stays free. The one thing I sell answers a question I kept being asked: can I sit down and play something real before I learn to read music.

Piano by Numbers is the method, both levels, written in finger numbers over a picture of the keyboard instead of notation. Ninety three printable practice sheets come with it, a bonus book of ten classical pieces, and a player that lights up each key as it sounds. $19, downloaded straight away.
