Musically literate piano beginner
by: Jennifer L.

I am also a musically literate person learning how to play piano. The Alfred's All-in-One book did help me learn how to play with both hands, but the problem with that book, and with others, is that they all assume you know nothing at all about music or how to read sheet music. I cannot find ANYTHING for people like ourselves who know music but simply need to learn piano technique, like which fingers to use to move around the keyboard without fumbling around. That is my main problem/concern. And I understand that starting out you will have to play simple songs composed for beginners. It's just that I don't need all the extra explanations for things I already know. For me personally, I am much more familiar with treble clef than with bass clef. I am getting better, but it is a big challenge. I really appreciate this site and comment section. It is helping me so much! Thanks!

Hola Cécile,

There are plenty of methods to learn playing the piano. One method will be good for you while another person will prefer another method.

Playing the piano requires a unique skill - the coordination between hands. It is like dividing your brain into two parts. This is one of the most challenging issues when playing the piano. Unfortunately, many of the piano books do not pay much attention to this issue.
However, we have developed a method that gradually enables you to play with both hands. We are about to publish it in a few weeks, so keep in touch...

Could you please elaborate on the various points that you found less satisfactory with the Alfred Adult All in one book? Plea, let me know and I'll be able to direct you to a method that suit you better.

Don't hesitate to ask us further questions,

"Thank you for your lessons. I took piano lessons as a kid, and I've dabbled off and on for years. My music teacher taught me how to read music and hit all the notes, but I never felt like I was playing for real. I always felt like I was going through the motions, like a machine. Your lessons have changed that, so thanks."

Joshua White from U.S.A
