How to Start to Learn to Play Piano?
by: David from www.piano-play-it.com

Hey Pablo,

It's a great question. There is actually not one good answer.

Like anything else in life I believe you have to first ask yourself what you want to achieve?

If I understand what you're telling me, you're looking to see the whole picture of piano playing and you're willing to take you time so you'll enjoy the advantages in the long run.

In that case I suggest you follow our: Complete Beginner Piano Course

This course provides you with the foundations to piano playing.

In this course I focus on teaching piano notes and basic piano techniques.

Developing your piano technique is crucial for becoming a well trained piano player.

What I'm actually saying is that I support starting your piano playing with learning to orient your self on the piano, then start to practice playing piano by ear, and get to learn to read notes at the same time.

By learning to read and play piano notes you'd be able to communicate later on when we talk about chords and piano theory.

Now if you're interested in accompanying yourself on the piano while learning to read piano notes I sugeest your follow our Piano Chords section.

This section is based on learning the simple chords symbles and learning to recognize and form a piano chord by ear. Then you'll check it out by making sure your chord is correct according to some theoretical rules.

I'm working on the moment on providing a full piano chords course including both these elemtents (playing by ear and thoery) so stay tuned and I'll make this process much easier for you.

So, all in all the name of the game is variety.
Combining improving your musical ear, and studying the foundations to theory, reading and playing music.

BTW, I believe that if you're really serious about piano playing you should also find a great piano teacher at your area. If you're living in the U.S.A it's easy to do...

Check our Find Teachers Section where you can enter your adress and locate the best piano teachers nearby your area.

Otherwise, (Since I know you're living in Brasil - and I'm so jeleous about it ) simply ask around if people know a good piano teacher or check out for Brasillian piano forums in the net.

I hope this helps you.
If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask me!

Best regards

David

"Thank you for your lessons. I took piano lessons as a kid, and I've dabbled off and on for years. My music teacher taught me how to read music and hit all the notes, but I never felt like I was playing for real. I always felt like I was going through the motions, like a machine. Your lessons have changed that, so thanks."

Joshua White from U.S.A
