All and all, I do recommend that you learn about the logic behind scales and chords and use this virtual piano chord finder only when you're a bit confused. Our piano chords lessons will take you step by step through this wonderful world of harmony in a way that will assist you to understand how music works and will finally help you to play more music then only by entering the chords in here and learning them by heart blindely. Yet, I'd like to give you a good advice on how to use this chord finder while trying to play a pop or jazz song on the piano. How To Use The Piano Chord Finder1. First thing you have to do, when trying to play a pop song is determining your border on the piano. We use chord inversion for two reasons: Let's take the song "Let it Be" for example. It's maybe best to first watch to piano tutorial before I tell you how I worked it out in there.
In this piano tutorial I set the boundaries of the chord on the piano between "B" under middle C and "Bb" above middle C. The reason I chose these bounderies are because the harmony (chords) sounds better in the middle register of the piano. Notice that I didn't use an octave so that I'd really have to focus on specific chord inversions. Next thing I did was finding the chord inversions of the song between these two notes in the right hand. This is where the piano chord finder comes to your help. Just click on the root letter of the chord on the left, then state whether it's a major chord, minor chord or any other chord given in the "Chords" field. Below the "Chords" field you'll see an "Invert Chord" button. So, if you're limiting yourself to play within the boundaries we discussed you'll have to take the lower note from below and bring the highest note of the chord to the middle of the chord. If it's a slash chord however you can simply play the lowest note of the chord in the bass and keep the rest in the right hand. Next thing I did in the tutorial was practicing moving smoothly from one chord to the other. Then I added the Bass in the left hand. The bass is the basic note of the chord. The note the chord is named after. It is also the lowest note of the chord in its basic position. The next thing I did in the tutorial was explaining about the groove. That's basically it. I hope this helped you to understand how to use the piano chord finder. In the next section of our piano chords section we'll learn about piano chord theory.
