Playing eighth and sixteenth notes with a metronome
by: Ido from www.piano-play-it.com

Hi Bob,

I would like to help you specifacally with the eighth and sixteenth notes.

Firstly, you will find it very helpful to read
the eighth notes page, and the page about the sixteenth notes.

Now, I?ll give you an exercise that will help you to feel the difference between the eighth and the sixteenth notes.

Eighth notes and sixteenth notes exercises for metronome.

Click here to listen to the Audio File

In the above exercise you have a mix of quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes.

Tune your metronome to 50 BPM.
Clap your hands with the metronome pulse.
After you get and feel the pulse, count ta, ta-te, and ta-fa-te-fe in the right places.

When you feel conent with this tempo, increase the BPM just a little, and try again.

Practice this exercise in various tempos, and you will feel the differences between quarter, the eighth and the sixteenth notes.

This was only one exercise, but it gives you an idea how to practice rhythm with a metronome.
In the future we will have many more rhythm exercises, so stay tuned.

Hope I helped you,

Ido from www.Piano-play-it.com

"Thank you for your lessons. I took piano lessons as a kid, and I've dabbled off and on for years. My music teacher taught me how to read music and hit all the notes, but I never felt like I was playing for real. I always felt like I was going through the motions, like a machine. Your lessons have changed that, so thanks."

Joshua White from U.S.A
