Another Suggestion
by: David from www.piano-play-it.com

No welcome Bob I'm glad I could help you with that.

I have another suggestion for you.

Try to play E-B-E in the left hand instead of E-B-G
(By the way, I guess the song is in Eb major?
In that case it would be Eb-Bb-Eb instead of Eb-Bb-G

I think your suggestion of dropping the G in the right seems to work the best because using the inversion doesnt' sound right ,the D being the melody note. I am new at playing this way, I always just played the top stave. Thanks for helping me out.

An Intersection of Two Voices
by: David from www.piano-play-it.com

Hi Bob Young,

What we have here is a classical case of intersection of two voices.

On the one hand the right hand plays a triad chord while the left hand accompanies with an Arppegio

Now, there are a few way I suggest you approach this issue.

If you want to play this bar exactly as written what you have to do is press on the whole chord in the first beat and just before you have to repeat the G in the left you should life your thumb to allow the G note to be heard again.

You could also by the simple drop the G in the right hand and wait a moment before you hear it in the left hand.

If it sound too empty I suggest you replace the chord Inversion in the right hand and instead of playing G-B-D
play B-D-G.

By doing that you'll be playing the full chord and you'll have the space to play the lower G note in the left hand without being disturbed by the right hands thumb.

Is this helping you? I hope so...
Let me know if you have further questions.

Good luck with it!

"Thank you for your lessons. I took piano lessons as a kid, and I've dabbled off and on for years. My music teacher taught me how to read music and hit all the notes, but I never felt like I was playing for real. I always felt like I was going through the motions, like a machine. Your lessons have changed that, so thanks."
