This Really makes me feel better.

When you tell about:
'you can simply read aloud the text to the audience, but only if you deeply understand the significance will you be able to convey the full meaning'.

This exactly how I feel, I will take a look to all the links.

Best Regards!

Hola (Hello) Adagio,

I would not use the term "a problem" for not having a strong basic knowledge. I have students that haven't learned theory at all, but still can play in a beautiful and musical manner.

However, learning the theory behind the music is important. In my experience students who deeply understand the harmony and the structure of a composition will play it much more beautifully. It is like telling a story ? you can simply read aloud the text to the audience, but only if you deeply understand the significance will you be able to convey the full meaning.
I think that you will also enjoy playing a piece much more when you understand the harmony structure behind it.

We have dozens of pages about theory. I advise you to click here to learn all about it.

What do you mean when you say: "the length of the notes"? Do you refer to the tempo? If so I recommend you to follow our rhythm course:

It includes these lessons about rhythm:

Music rhythm
A dotted half note
The quartet rest
The half rest
The whole rest
The eighth note
Sixteenth notes
Dotted notes
Triplets

Each of these lessons include explanations, audio and video examples, and piano music sheet that contains the special rhythm sign or pattern which has been taught.

Another issue that you have mentioned: when you don't play a piece for a week or more it is hard for you to go back to it. Don't worry; it is quite normal. Move on to the next piece and when you feel like it, try gradually playing an old one.

If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
